DEEP RING-GRAIN SANDBLAST 807 Poker, Very Near Mint! Offering a great looking Savory’s ARGYLL pipe, with a really nice sandblast finish. The brand is one of a few that are owned and operated by Dunhill. Here’s a quick summary from Pipedia: Savory's is a Dunhill Sub-brand. The trademark H.L Savory’s & Co. was established Jan. 1, 1886, and didn’t expire until 1993. Apparently, it was acquired by Dunhill in 1932. It is another sub-brand like Hardcastle, Ben Wade, Charatan and Parker. The box they come in shows the brand DISTRIBUTED FOR USA, ALFRED DUNHILL OF LONDON. As you can see from the compilation photo I created, Savory’s offered the tobacco brand Baby’s Bottom , and in the last photo you can see cans marketed as Dunhill MY MIXTURE Baby’s Bottom . The pipe is quite attractive, as it’s got a nice classic large Poker profile, and the sandblast brought out some excellent ring-grain patterns, looking like a Dunhill SHELL finish. Bowl exterior is in fine shape, no noted wear. The interior is well-seasoned and in great shape, and draws easy. The stem is original and well cut, and made of vulcanite. It has light surface tooth wear. It weighs in at about 1.4 ounces. Freshly polished and ready to smoke! I buy pipes and collections, message me for details, if interested!
