RARE c1920's pre-Kaywoodie PREMIER , TRINITY, BRUYERE, Quaint Cut, Red Logo RARE c1920's pre-Kaywoodie PREMIER , TRINITY, BRUYERE, Quaint Cut, Red Logo Description RARE c1920's pre-Kaywoodie Brand PREMIER Logo, TRINITY, BRUYERE Quaint Cut, Red Logo, Retro-Cool Look Offering a unique , and rare , pipe by the PREMIER Pipe Co. probably made in the 1920's. The model is TRINITY , which is one of the multitude of brand names produced by them. The pipe has a logo design that identifies it as a PREMIER, or Reiss-Premier make. The stamp is in a wide unique diamond outline, which is how PREMIER pipes were marked. Reiss Premier is the actual company that created the "Drinkless" fitment, that was made famous on Kaywoodie pipes. In 1926 they purchased Kaufman Brothers & Bondy (KB&B), and the Kaywoodie brand came from that union. But relating to the Premier pipe company, here’s part of what’s covered on Pipedia: Reiss-Premier founded in Chicago, Illinois in 1922 by Jacob D. Burger, again as a successor company to two former pipe-making concerns, Reiss Brothers of Chicago and Premier Briar Pipe Company. The company was located in the south half of the fifth floor at 32 to 40 South Clinton Street in Chicago. I have included a counter-top advertisement board photo, showing the Drinkless pipe, with the logo on the bottom, linking the Kaywoodie Drinkless stinger design to the Reiss-Premier company. I find these early pre-Kaywoodie pipes to be very cool, and collectible, as they are quite early and have a fun history in and of themselves. Notice the British spelling with BRUYERE , which is also how the earliest Kaywoodie pipes spelled it. The pipe is slim and light in weight, has a diamond 4 panel bowl with smooth corners and rusticated panels, a “quaint” styling. The shank is also rusticated in the centers of the triangle panels. It’s a retro-gem of a pipe, with a cool early design. The bowl exterior has some light normal wear, no issues. The interior is nicely seasoned, draw hole bottom rear, draws well. The stem is in nice shape, with very little wear and I filled a tooth mark on the top of the bit, made of quality vulcanite. It has a cool red logo, round balls on the ends with a center connecting bar, very cool to me. It weighs about .65 ounce. I think these are great pre-Kaywoodie Collectors pipes, hard to come by, so hope it finds a good home! I buy pipes and collections, message me for details, if interested! Please see my other Auctions! Combined shipping of multiple items no problem, wait until auctions end to pay, and I’ll send a combined invoice! Additional cleaning may be desired on some pipes, as I focus on the exterior reconditioning and reaming, and leave the shank interior to the new owner, pipe stand not included with any pipe.
