Franco Rossi, pipemaker and owner of the " Il Ceppo " factory has a long asociation with the "Pesaro School" of artisans mentored by Giancarlo Guidi, whose Mastro de Paja brand greatly influenced the founding and ascendancy of Guidi's Ser Jacopo as well as other iconic brands, including L'Anatra, Il Ceppo, and Don Carlos. A common putpose among them concentrated on an Italian "renaissance" of pipe artisanship focused on excellence of design, innovative craftsmansip and pure smoking pleasure - highly prized worldwide by smokers and collectors alike. The silver ferrule and acrylic military bit attached to a flattened four panel shank and a beautiful dark brown sandblast finish on this sleek but thick-walled pipe are simply elegant.
