Item & Condition: This Holtorp pipe, hand made in Denmark, features a distinctive Brandy/Chimney-shaped bowl characteristic of Danish pipe-making. This pipe is in excellent condition with minimal handling marks, retaining its original stem that fits snugly and tightly into the shank. The pipe showcases beautiful grain patterns, including striking birdseye and cross grain, highlighting the quality of the briar used. With a clean rim and internals, the pipe is ready for smoking. P. Holtorp was one of the artisanal carvers associated with Pipe-Dan, a renowned Copenhagen pipe shop, during the 1960s and early 1970s. Holtorp worked alongside other notable Danish pipe makers such as Sven Knudsen, Gert Holbek, and Tom Eltang. Unlike many Danish pipe makers of his time, Holtorp's designs often featured bold lines and forms, striving for elegance rather than conforming to the "fancy freehand" style popular in Denmark. Holtorp's pipes were known for their high-quality craftsmanship and dense graining. After his time at Pipe-Dan, Holtorp continued to make pipes from his own shop, selling many through Pipe-Dan. I spend hours cleaning the inside of your pipe for you with Everclear only (No bleach, Oxyclean, murphy's soap, or other harsh cleaners). I use a pipe retort, pipe cleaners and, if necessary (rarely), an ozone chamber to remove every last scent and ghost.
